* 2oz (50g) dried figs
* 2oz (50g) dried apricots
* 2oz (50g) dried peaches
* 2oz (50g) dried prunes
* 2oz (50g) dried apple rings
* 2oz (50g) sultanas
* 3/4 pint (750ml) water
* 4oz (100g) light muscovado sugar
* 1 strip lemon rind
* 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
* 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Measure all the ingredients into a large microproof bowl; mix well. Cover with pierced clear film and cook on full power for 18-20 minutes, stirring and pushing the fruit down into the liquid twice during cooking. Allow to stand until cold, then remove and discard the strip of lemon rind. Chill in the refrigerator, preferably overnight.
