Place the chicken, breast-side down, in a large deep dish. Cover with a piece of greaseproof paper and MICROWAVE ON HIGH for 10 minutes. Pour off the liquid. Turn the chicken over and cover the leg and wing tips with small pieces of foil, making sure they do not touch the oven walls. MICROWAVE ON HIGH for 14-16 minutes until the flesh near the bone is opaque, or until the juices run clear when the thigh is pierced with a skewer. Leave to stand for 10 minutes. If preferred, brown under a preheated hot grill before serving.
