Dairy Products Are Good for Children and not So Health-Giving for Adults


dairy_cBabies and children are to eat dairy products every day. Such food make children healthy, their bones and teeth strong and beautiful, because dairy consist a lot of calcium. But grown-ups can't assimilate those calcium in dairy products as good as children do. That's why adults shouldn't eat so much dairy. They are good for us only when we are young.

contain calcium that can be absorbed by the body much more easily than calcium from other foods. Hard cheeses like Parmesan and Cheddar contain more calcium than soft cheeses like ricotta and cottage cheese. Bating cheese at the end of a meat can also help to fight tooth decay caused by sugary foods by reducing the acid levels in plaque, so the French tradition of finishing a meal with a little cheese is a good idea.

Cheese is a perfect food for children. It provides an excellent source of protein and calcium, important for strong bones and good teeth.

Eggs provide an excellent source of protein, zinc, and vitamins A, D, E and B12. Don't worry about the cholesterol - although they are high in cholesterol it has very little effect compared to things like obesity and smoking.

Gruyere cheese has a slightly sweet taste that appeals to babies. Cheese is a good source of concentrated calories, protein and calcium. Cheese is also high in saturated fat, which is not good for adults but is a great energy food for children. Cheese is a good source of riboflavin (vitamin B2), which is essential for converting proteins, fats and carbohydrates into energy. Cheese is a good source of vitamin B12 for people who don't eat meat.

Mascarpone is an Italian cream cheese that is high in energy and rich in both calcium and vitamin D, both of which are important for building and maintaining strong bones and teeth.

Milk is great for children as it is rich in calcium. Children will often take milk as a drink when it is mixed with other foods, particularly fruit.

Cow's milk is a nutritious ingredient in food for infants aged nine to twelve months as it is naturally high in protein, fat and calcium and contains many other vitamins and minerals. Remember, however, that cow's milk should not be given as a drink before one year of age as it is low in iron and too high in protein.

Yoghurt provides a good source of calcium, protein and phosphorus, which are all important for strong healthy bones and teeth. Yoghurt is more easily digested than milk. It can be used in place of milk if you are milk intolerant because the live bacteria used in the process of making yoghurt has predigested a lot of the lactose (milk sugar) that causes problems in many people.

Bio or live yoghurt contains good bacteria which maintains the balance of good and bad bacteria in our guts and can help prevent illness. If a child develops diarrhoea on antibiotics, it may be a good idea to give her live yoghurt. Antibiotics kill off bad and good bacteria in the intestine and eating live yoghurt helps to restore the balance. Fruit flavoured yoghurts may claim to be low in fat but beware they may contain large amounts of sugar or artificial sweetener.
