0.0/5 rating (0 votes)
* 125 g (4 oz) fresh white breadcrumbs
* 1 kg (2 lb) minced lean beef
* 3 tablespoons bottled barbecue relish
* 1
onion, finely chopped
* 1 egg, beaten
* rolled oats, for coating
* parsley sprigs, to garnish
* 12 buns, to serve

1. Place the breadcrumbs in a bowl and add the minced beef, barbecue relish, onion and beaten egg. Mix thoroughly together. Divide the mixture into 12 equal portions and shape each one into a burger, about 2.5 cm (1 inch) thick. Coat with the rolled oats, patting them on firmly.
2. Line a baking sheet with foil, put the relishburgers on top, cover with more foil and crimp all the way round to make an airtight parcel. Chill thoroughly in the refrigerator before cooking to allow the burgers to firm up.
3. Unwrap and arrange the chilled burgers on an oiled grid. Grill over hot coals on a preheated barbecue for about 15 minutes, turning the burgers carefully halfway through cooking. Garnish with parsley and serve in buns accompanied by a cucumber salad and extra relish.
