* 1 onion, finely chopped
* 750 g (1 1/2 lb) lean minced beef
* 1 green pepper, cored, deseeded and finely chopped
* 2 spring onions, finely chopped
* 1 tablespoon tomato puree
* 1 teaspoon paprika
* 3 teaspoons salt
* 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
* green pepper slices, to gamish

1. Place all the ingredients in a large bowl and mix thoroughly together. Divide the burger mixture into 6 equal-sized portions and pat each piece firmly into a neat round shape, about 1 cm (1/2 inch) thick. Cover the burgers and chill in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
2. Place the burgers on an oiled grid and cook over the hot coals on a preheated barbecue. For rare burgers, allow 2 minutes on each side; for medium, 4 minutes; and for well-done, 6 minutes on each side. Serve with toasted bread rolls and a selection of relishes.
