2 oz wholemeal flour
2 oz self-raising flour
4 oz porridge oats
1 oz dark brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
4 oz butter, softened
4 tablespoons milk
12 oz plain chocolate


Metric
50 g wholemeal flour
50 g self-raising flour
100 g porridge oats
25 g dark brown sugar
1 x 2.5 ml spoon salt
1 x 2.5 ml spoon bicarbonate of soda
100 g butter, softened
4 x 15 ml spoons milk
350 g plain chocolate


Combine all the ingredients except the chocolate in a large bowl. Mix thoroughly to a soft dough. Roll out on a floured surface to 5 mm/1/4 inch thick and cut out 5 cm/2 inch rounds. Re-roll the trimmings and cut out. Line a tray with greaseproof paper or a folded roaster bag. Arrange nine biscuits in a circle around the'edges. MICROWAVE ON HIGH for 4 minutes, turning the tray occasionally. The biscuits are ready when they can be easily removed from the tray without breaking. Transfer to a wire rack to cool and cook the remaining biscuits.
Put the chocolate in a bowl and MICROWAVE ON HIGH for 3-З 1/2 minutes until just melting. Dip the biscuits into the chocolate to coat completely. Place on greaseproof paper and chill in the refrigerator until set. Trim the edges to neaten.
